Ali Abbasov, Azerbaijan's Telecommunication and IT Minister, has said today that the Telecommunication and IT Ministry has allotted frequency resources to introduce 3G in the country, Trend reports.

According to him, the resources are most likely to be distributed through a tender.

No official appeal has been received by the Ministry to date. But I think that all the three mobile telecommunication providers will be interested in this offer, noted the Minister.

3G Standard was projected and designed by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and its name is IMT-2000 (International Mobile Telecommunications 2000). The key aim is to harmonize 3G systems to provide global roaming. The following five standards are united under the abbreviation IMT-2000:W-CDMA, CDMA2000, TD-CDMA/TD-SCDMA, DECT, and UWC-136
