Azerbaijan's Turning to Digital Telecasting to Take 8 Years

Azerbaijan has launched the transition from the analogous telecasting to digital one. The whole process is expected to take about 8 years, Trend reports referring to the Press-Service of the Azerbaijan Telecommunication and IT Ministry.

All the works will be implemented in three steps. The first one will cover 2007-2010, the second one - 2011-2013, and the third one -2014-2015. Two package of the telecasting with 4 TV channels is preliminary expected to be launched in Baku, Ganja, and Nakhchivan. The second stage envisages another (the second) package to be introduced in Baku, Ganja, and Nakhchivan. Three packages with 12 TV channels in each are expected to be put into use by 2013.

The third (the last) stage envisages improving the quality of broadcasting by installing sensors.

All the above-mentioned plans were reflected in the package of proposals prepared by PA Teleradio, which has already been submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Country.
