Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend S.Babayeva / The Mobile Operator of Azerbaijan "Azercell Telecom" put into operation GPRS/MMS roaming service with two networks of Finnish company "Elisa". This is the three GPRS/MMS roaming agreement between the operator and Finnish company.
Now "Azercell's subscribers use services of operators of this country "Sonera".
Up today "Azercell Telecom" JV has signed the GPRS/MMS roaming agreement with 72 network operators from 34 countries around the world.
Joint venture "Azercell Telecom" was established on January 19, 1996. Founders were Turkcell Yleti?im Hizmetleri A. S. and Ministry of Communications of Azerbaijan Republic .
"Azercell Telecom" started its activities on December 15, 1996 offering subscribers mobile telecommunications services based on postpaid system. In 1998 prepaid system was launched with tariff package - SimSim that was very successful. As being the leader of the market and very dynamic company it's known as the trend setter in mobile telecommunications market in Azerbaijan applying new technologies and offering various tariff packages, products and services that are beyond the customer needs.
