Catel to Extend Coverage Zone in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr S. Babayeva / Vugar Hagverdiyev, the Technical Director of the Azerbaijani-American Joint Venture Catel, reported on 4 April that the company is going to extend the coverage zone in Azerbaijan. Catel provides a mobile network through CDMA 2000 standard.

The coverage zone for the time being includes Baku, the Absheron Peninsula, Ganja, Sumgayit, Alibayramly, Shamkir and Nabran.

Hagverdiyev reported that the work on concluding roaming agreements with CDMA operators is in progress.

The amount of the capital investments in the economy of Azerbaijan will exceed $25mln.

Catel was issued a license for providing mobile communications in compliance with CDMA standard at the end of 2005.
