A working group, consisting of specialists from certain Ministries in the Country, as well as Intel and Microsoft, has presented proposals to be submitted to the Azerbaijan's Government. "The proposals are expected to be submitted to the Government by the end of April 2007," a source at the Ministry said. The Project "People's Computer" is aimed at towards easing the poor strata of our population in providing such families with PCs based on long-term credit and low interest rates. Local Executive Powers, employment agencies, Internet cafes and clubs within the Country are expected to be involved in implementing this process.
According to approximate calculations, only 3 to 4 PCs are owned between 100 people in Azerbaijan today. Once this new project is implemented, this number may increase by at least five times.
