Azerbaijan, Baku/ Trend , corr. S. Babayeva/ PO Aztelekom of the Azerbaijani Telecommunication and IT Ministry has postponed holding the second lot of tenders on the project for the installation of the pilot NGN network (Next Generation Network) both in the Administration Centre of the district of Smamakhy and villages of the region, a source in the Production Association said.

The second lot of tenders envisaged the installation of internal network lines. The cause for the postponement was the lack of applications from companies and candidates.

The mentioned project in Shamakhy considers the reconstruction of telecommunications and the introduction of NGN technology in the region. The corresponding tender was previously won by the company Iskratel.

The total capacity of the new network in Shamakhy will make up 16976 ports. It will cover the Central Automatic Telephone Exchange of the district and 23 automatic exchanges in the villages of the region.

As soon as the corresponding network is installed in Shamakhy, the Telecommunication Ministry has plans to install a corresponding network in the Absheron Peninsula, Sumgayit and the city of Ganja.

Notably, in Baku, this technology was first presented at the expense of equipment purchased from China's Huawei by BakTeleKom in 2006.
