Investments of Fintur Holdings into Economy of Azerbaijan Nearly $530mln

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend S.Babayeva/ Fintur Holdings Company has invested more than $1.5bln into the mobile markets of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan and Moldova, said the Chief Executive Director of the Company, Serkan Elden, on 12 April at the sixth regional conference on ICT of Turkey, Caspian and Black Sea region, Central Asia and Russia - Caspian Telecoms 2007.

According to Mr. Elden, $527mln of that is invested in Azercell, $196mln with Georgia's Geocell, $699mln in Kazakhstan's (K'Cell), and $82mln in Moldcell in Moldova.

As per the end of the year, the company's gross number of subscribers over four operator companies comes to 7.4mln, with 2.3mln subscribing to Azercell. Fintur Holdings BV is a joint venture comprised of Turkcell and TeliaSonera. TeliaSonera owns 58.55% of Fintur's shares and Turkcell - 41.45%.
