Bamboo encloses recyclable notebook

( Mobilemag ) - This might be a little over the top, unless you're a green zealot. It's the Asus Ecobook, a computer so environmentally friendly that it might just fade into the background if you leave it out in your garden or on a grassy knoll somewhere.

Let's start with the case. It's made of bamboo, which is a good friend to the environment mainly because it's a part of it already.

The components enclosure is made up of cardboard, which is, of course, recyclable. The plastic parts are recyclable as well, and they're clearly labeled, to make it easy for you to pluck them all out and dispose of them properly on your own.

The most eco-friendly element of this notebook, though, is the parts themselves. They're all upgradeable, so you don't just throw the whole thing in the scrap heap when you want to upgrade the memory, or the graphics card, or whatever. Like a good car, the Asus Ecobook can keep running for years. All it needs is a little love.

We'll know how much it costs when it starts living among us next year.
