( Mobilemag ) - Lenovo has a couple of new laptops coming down the production line, both of which will be based on the Intel Santa Rosa platform. Another interesting thing to note is that neither laptop will rock any sort of IBM badging, the first time this has happened since they bought the notebook-making business in 2005.
The Lenovo T61, as you can probably guess, is the successor to the hugely popular T60. You get your choice of Intel Core 2 Duo processor (up to T7700), integrated graphics via Intel GMA X3100, built-in WiFi, Windows Vista, a widescreen 14.1-inch TFT display (in either WXGA or WXGA+), and Ultrabay Slim "for fast and easy hot- and warm-swapping of selected options." The T61 is 1.1-inches thick and weighs about five pounds, depending on configuration.
The 14.1-inch R61 comes with a similar set of options, except you can get a 7200rpm hard drive with as much as 100GB of space. The other major difference is that the R61 rocks the new NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M (128MB) discrete graphics card.
The T61 and R61 are both expected to ship next month, with a WWAN variant of the T61 shipping in June and a Blu-Ray DVD burning edition of the R61 coming the month after that. Prices will vary according to spec.
