Nokia E90 Communicator Sold for $5000

( Mobilemag )- Although the QWERTY-tastic Nokia E90 Communicator won't officially go on sale until next month, an anxious buyer ponied up the equivalent of US$5000 to get his hands on the first unit. Sold to Hartono Gunawan (center) at a charity auction in Jakarta, Indonesia, the E90 is the latest in Nokia's line of powerful communicators.

You might be wondering why they pulled this promotional stunt in Indonesia. Well, the first communicator -- Nokia 9000 -- was launched there, and ever since, Nokia "has released all its communicators in Indonesia first." The money raised through the E90 auction will be donated to UNICEF.

Also pictured are Nokia Indonesia general manager Hasan Aula (left) and Indonesia's UNICEF Ambassador Ferry Salim (right). Of the three, Gunawan looks the least happy. C'mon man! You're the proud owner of the first Nokia E90!
