Minister Urges to Improve Protection of Intellectual Property in   Azerbaijan (video)

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr S. Babayeva / Azerbaijani Communications and Information Technologies Ministry will submit the suggestions on improvement of protection of intellectual property to Azerbaijani Parliament in autumn, Azerbaijani Communications ad IT Minister, Ali Abbasov, reported on 26 June.

According to Abbasov, the measure on improvement of protection of intellectual property was suggested by the US consulting company of Booz Allen Hamilton within the framework of formation of a regional innovation area in Azerbaijan.

"Regional innovation area requires a large capital. Given production of intellectual products and services, there is a necessity to provide for a high-level implementation of the Law on Intellectual Property," the Minster said.

Abbasov said that a steady climate should be created in Azerbaijan for protection of intellectual property.

The project on regional innovation area stipulates for establishment of techno-parks intended to development of small-scale and middle-scale innovation entrepreneurship, establishment of regional basis on production and export of electronic equipment and software, turning the country into a profitable transit data centre, development of human resources for the information society under formation, as well as introduction of IT into other fields.

According to the Ministry, implementation of the project in Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, along with all the Caspian region, will stimulate development of entrepreneurship and provide for new jobs, what will lead to high economic growth.
