( Mobile ) - And I thought I would be the talk of the town with my regular old MX Revolution mouse. Logitech has taken the mouse industry into a whole new arena with the announcement of the Logitech MX Air Mouse, a mouse that features Freespace motion-control, gesture command, and wireless connectivity.
Instead of being bound to a table top, you can now take the MX Air Mouse to the air, appropriately enough, accessing key commands with a flick of the wrist. For example, to adjust the volume, simply hold the volume button and flick your wrist to the right or the left. Change tracks in your music player by giving a small circular motion to the right.
The cursor control is also supposed to be quite advanced, overcoming "the limitations encountered by previous in-air pointing devices." This was achieved based on a combination of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) sensor, DSP technology, and RF wireless technology. They say that you can hold the mouse in any orientation.
With a polished black top case, a silver base, and a sweet contoured shape, the Logitech MX Air Mouse looks nice too. Look for it to sell this August with an MSRP of $150.
On a side note, should we be blaming thanking Nintendo for bringing gesture controls to the forefront with the Wii? It seems like everyone is hopping on the motion-based bandwagon these days.
