Some hotels in Baku raised prices on the eve of the New Year holiday, the chairman of Azerbaijan Tourism Association (AzTA), Nahid Bagirov, told Trend Dec.21

His pointed out, the rise in prices is observed in five-star hotels in Baku. Bagirov explained this by the influx of tourists to Azerbaijan on the eve of the New Year holiday.

"The rise in prices means that many tourists will come to Baku, and the practice of world tourism shows that hotels raise prices before the New Year and other holidays," Bagirov said. “It's very unfortunate that the hotels are taking this step.”

The head of the association reminded that the hotels are independent in their pricing policy.

"The hotels operating in Azerbaijan belong to businessmen who can both raise and lower prices," Bagirov said.
