Turkey’s tourism income grows

Turkey's tourism income grew 31.3 percent in the first quarter of 2018 as compared to the same period last year, said a report issued by the Turkish Statistical Institute April 30.

The country's tourism income totaled $4.425 billion during the period, said the report.

During the period, 76.1 percent of the total income accounted for foreign citizens and 23.9 percent accounted for the Turkish citizens living abroad.

During the period, every tourist spent $723 in Turkey, the report said.

Earlier, Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism Numan Kurtulmus said that in January-March 2018, 5.1 million tourists visited Turkey, which is a record high figure.
