Uzbekistan, Tajikistan to launch new bus routes

Uzbekistan and Tajikistan are planning to launch five new bus routes within a month, Uzbek media reported referring to Director of the Tajik transport company “Asian Express” Sulton Kamolov.

He said that the buses will run on the Dushanbe-Denau, Dushanbe-Termez, Penjikent-Samarkand, Khujand-Kokand and Istaravshan-Bekabad routes.

Only the Khujand-Tashkent route is currently operating between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

According to Kamolov, the fares and the traffic schedule have already been agreed upon by the parties. According to preliminary estimates, the cost of the trip from Dushanbe to Denau will be 25 somoni, from Dushanbe to Termez - 52 somoni, from Penjikent to Samarkand - 20 somoni.

Tajikistan and Uzbekistan have canceled the visa regime since March 16. Citizens of the two countries can now travel to each other without a visa for 30 days.
