The number of Iranian tourists who visited Turkey over the past 16 years (2002-2017) increased by 5.7 times, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey told Trend.
In 2017 alone, Turkey was visited by 2,501,948 tourists from Iran, according to the ministry.
The ministry noted that the share of Iranian citizens in the total number of foreigners who visited Turkey in 2017 was 7.72 percent.
The ministry also noted that in 2017, 1,228,603 tourists from Iran arrived in Turkey via air transport, 1,268,484 tourists by road and the remaining 4,861 tourists by rail and sea.
