In January-August 2018, the number of tourists in Uzbekistan from the US, Canada and other countries of America increased by 48 percent and reached 9,900 people (compared to 6,600 people), the State Committee for Tourism Development said in a report on Oct. 24.
According to the information, on July 15-Aug. 30, the US ranked second after China in the number of citizens getting electronic visas (962) through Uzbekistan’s e-visa system. A memorandum was signed between the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the US and the American Society of Travel Agents, providing for cooperation in promoting the tourism brand of Uzbekistan in the US.
The number of Italian tourists increased by 47 percent and amounted to 9,300 people (6,300 people). In January-August, the number of citizens visiting Uzbekistan from the countries of the consular district of this diplomatic mission (Turkey, Albania, Iraq, South Africa, Bulgaria, Romania, Cyprus) increased by 92 percent, reaching 47,200 people (against 24,600 people).
During the same period, the number of Polish tourists increased by 57 percent and reached 1,900 people (1,200 people). After the launch of the new system for obtaining electronic visas on July 15, Poland ranks eighth for the number of tourists who received entry visas to Uzbekistan.
