Over 900,000 Central Asia tourists visit Turkey in 10 months (Exclusive)

In January-October 2018, 925,154 tourists from Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan) visited Turkey, the Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry told Trend Dec. 6.

In January-October 2018, 399,048 Kazakh tourists visited Turkey, which is 5.54 percent more compared to the same period in 2017, the ministry said.

In the reported period, 100,039 tourists from Kyrgyzstan, 212,813 tourists from Uzbekistan and 213,254 tourists from Turkmenistan visited Turkey, the ministry added.

The ministry also noted that in October 2018, 19,754 tourists from Kazakhstan visited Turkey, which is 16.47 percent more compared to the same period in 2017.

Thus, the share of Kazakh citizens in the total number of foreigners who visited Turkey in October 2018 was 0.53 percent, the ministry added.

In October 2018, 8,848 tourists from Kyrgyzstan visited Turkey, which is 7.12 percent less compared to October 2017.

The share of Kyrgyz tourists in the total number of foreigners who visited Turkey in October 2018 was 0.24 percent, the ministry said.

The ministry also noted that the number of Uzbek tourists who visited Turkey in October 2018 decreased by 19.12 percent compared to October 2017.

In October 2018, 15,432 tourists from Uzbekistan visited Turkey and thus, the share of Uzbek citizens in the total number of foreigners who visited Turkey in October 2018 amounted to 0.41 percent, the ministry said.

In October of 2018, 21,255 Turkmen tourists visited Turkey, which is 5.94 percent less compared to October 2017.

The share of Turkmens in the total number of foreigners who visited Turkey in October 2018 was 0.57 percent, the ministry added.

In October 2018, 3.8 million tourists visited Turkey, which is 25.48 percent more compared to October 2017, according to the ministry.

As of January-October 2018, 35,571,419 tourists visited Turkey, which is 22.43 percent more than in January-October 2017, the ministry noted.

The ministry said that in October 2018, 1,359,212 tourists visited Turkey's Antalya province, while Istanbul's visitors amounted to 1,230,070 tourists.

In January-October 2018, Antalya and Istanbul were visited by 12,008,939 and 11,340,081 tourists, respectively, the ministry added.
