KLM Royal Dutch Airlines may connect the airports of the Netherlands, in particular Amsterdam Schiphol, with the airports of the countries of Central Asia, the Far East and India via Uzbekistan, Trend reports on Dec. 18 referring to the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan.

On Dec. 14, 2018, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the Benelux countries Dilyor Khakimov met with Director Alliances at KLM Jan Vreeburg.

The parties discussed the prospects for improving cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Netherlands in the sphere of air traffic and the emerging new opportunities amidst the liberalization of the tourism industry in Uzbekistan.

The ambassador noted that Uzbekistan Airways, in case of interest, could begin negotiations with the Dutch authorities on the possibility of starting flights from the Winter 2019/2020 season.

The parties also supported the idea of establishing flights to Uzbekistan from partner airlines, including the leading international low-cost airlines that fly to Schiphol. That would dramatically increase the number of tourists from the Netherlands by reducing the cost of tours to Uzbekistan, as well as improve business contacts of European entrepreneurs with the country.
