Iran, Turkey sign tourism co-op agreement

Iran and Turkey have signed a cooperation agreement in the field of tourism, Hormatollah Rafei, head of the Association of Air Transport and Tourist Agencies of Iran, Trend reports referring to the website of Miras-e Arya News Agency.

Rafei said that the document was signed between him and Firuz Baglikaya, head of Turkey’s Tursab company.

According to Rafei, about 8 million tourists from Turkey and Iran each are traveling abroad every year.

"Sixty percent of [the said] 8 million people go from Iran to Turkey and Iraq. However, only 4 percentof tourists come to Iran from Turkey," he said.

Rafei said that Iran intends to even out the field of tourism with Turkey.

During the signing ceremony, Turkey's Tursab chief Firuz Baglikaya also noted that there's no balance in the two countries’ field of tourism. Effort needs to made in order to create this balance.

Baglikaya said that Turkey's tourism potential will be presented at the Tehran Tourism Fair.

Tursab said he believes that the signed document will help increase the flow of tourists to Iran and Turkey.
