In January 2019, 1.102 million of 1.539 million tourists who visited Turkey arrived by plane, which is 71.59 percent of the total number of tourists, the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism told Trend on March 5.
"Meanwhile, 28,000 tourists arrived in Turkey by ship in January 2019, which is 1.82 percent of the total number of tourists," the ministry said. “Some 409,000 tourists arrived in Turkey by car and train.”
In January 2019, 115,700 tourists arrived in Turkey’s Antalya province and 915,800 tourists arrived in Istanbul.
Moreover, in January 2019, 1.539 million tourists visited Turkey, which is 5.33 percent more compared to January 2018.
Over 918,000 tourists visited Istanbul and 116,000 tourists travelled to Antalya in this period.
Most of the tourists, who visited Turkey in January, came from Bulgaria (113,800) and Georgia (112,300).
