The number of those who wish to visit the Alakol lake is increasing in Kazakhstan, Trend reports with reference to the Kazakhstan’s channel Khabar 24.

As stated in the report, according to the specialists, the results of the season have not been summarized yet, but the increase by 40 percent is already observed.

“Thus, the value of the payments to the country’s budget from local bases of rest amounted to 67 million tenge during summer 2018, and this summer, the indicator has already exceeded 110 million. Experts also note that the visitors of the lake are mostly Kazakhstan’s citizens - 90 percent,” the report said.

The report noted the Alakol lake's great tourism potential. “Investors are ready to fund tourism development and government is already providing the territory with necessary infrastructure,” it said.

Head of the Tourism and Foreign Affairs of West Kazakhstan region Marat Kabakov also noted that the design and budget documentation of new major projects is already developing.

“These are the projects on water supply, sewerage system, airport reconstruction and others, which are to be implemented in the next four years. Total cost of the projects is assessed to equal 30 billion tenge,” he said.

Alakol Lake is located 347 meters above the sea level in the Almaty and Shyghyz provinces of Kazakhstan. It is a favorite vacation spot for Kazakhs; however, due to the undeveloped infrastructure of the place, local tourism hasn’t reached its full potential.
