Uzbekistan to bring number of countries with visa-free regime to 85

By January 1, 2020, the number of states with which Uzbekistan will establish a visa-free regime will reach 85, Trend reports citing Uzbek media

Chairman of the State Committee for Tourism of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Akkulov announced this at 21st plenary meeting of the Senate held on August 23-24.

In 2018, the visa regime for citizens of nine countries was canceled in Uzbekistan. In 2019, the visa-free regime was established with another 47 states. In total, the number of the countries reached 65.

Furthermore, the number of countries whose citizens can obtain an electronic visa has reached 77.

In addition, the procedure for obtaining a double and multiple entry visas has been introduced. As a result, during the seven months of this year, the number of citizens arriving from countries with which a visa-free regime is established increased by 58 percent.

During 2019, 3.7 million foreign tourists visited Uzbekistan. They were provided with travel services totaling $ 711 million, the report said.

By the end of this year, over six million tourists are expected to visit Uzbekistan; according to forecasts, the value of the tourism services will amount to $1.3 billion.
