Akimat (administrative center) of Kazakhstan’s Almaty city is considering using ecobuses on the route to Big Almaty Lake, Head of the city Bakytzhan Sagintayev wrote on his Instagram page, Trend reports.

“I have checked the condition of the road leading to Big Almaty Lake, which is popular among tourists, citizens and city’s visitors,” he said.

According to Sagintayev, in order to decrease the load to the lake’s ecosystem, akimat is looking into using ecobuses on the route and prohibiting use of personal transport.

“Our interests include making sure that visiting Big Almaty Lake is safe, comfortable and does not harm the environment,” the head of the city said.

Furthermore, in the morning of October 21, road to Big Almaty Lake was closed due to ice on steep sections and in places of collapse.

According to the press office of Ile-Alatau National Park, next week, the entrance to the Big Almaty Lake is to be completely limited.
