Main construction work of Turkmenistan’s airport in Kerki completed

The construction of Turkmenistan’s airport in Kerki is completing, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan information portal.

Currently, the main construction work is completed. All that remains is to bring and install the equipment, says the report.

The airport will occupy an area of 210 hectares. At the same time, the adjacent territory with an area of 12,100 square meters is being improved.

The airport in Kerki, which will have a capacity of 100 passengers per hour, is planned to be put into operation in May 2021.

As reported, the construction began in May 2019 by Turkmen Gündogdy company, which previously built the Turkmenabat International Airport.

According to the contract signed between the Turkmenhovaellary Agency (Turkmen airlines) and the contractor – Gundogdy, the airport will be built along the Turkmenabat–Kerki highway and the city railway station. It is planned that the construction will be completed in April 2021.

The construction of the airfield in Kerki is also closely linked to the development prospects of the region. A transport hub will be formed on the territory of the Lebap region, which will expand the capabilities of domestic civil aviation, both in the field of international and domestic transportation.
