Some 104,700 visitors visited Georgia in May 2021, Trend reports via the National Tourism Administration.
This flow of visitors is 180 percent higher than the previous year.
According to statistics, more than half of the visitors - 52,688 visitors - entered the country by air last month, which is related to resumed air traffic.
Despite the relative recovery of tourism, its volume is 85 percent less than in May 2019.
The top three countries, the flow of which to Georgia has increased the most, include:
- Turkey - 21,855 visitors, an increase of 37.8 percent over the previous year;
- Ukraine - 11,533 visitors, an increase over the previous year 1,049.9 percent;
- Israel - 11,244 visitors, an increase over the previous year 24,886.7 percent;
According to the National Bank of Georgia, in April, when 83,000 visitors visited Georgia, the country's revenue from international tourism amounted to $50 million.
