Over 1,000 kilometers of roads and railways to be laid in Iran

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 17

Some 1,600 kilometers of roads and railways will be laid by the end of the current government’s power in Iran (August 2021), Iran's Minister of Road and Urban Development Mohammed Eslami said.

Eslami made the remark at the 5th International Tunnel Conference at the Amirkabir University of Technology in Tehran, Trend reports referring to the Iranian Ministry of Road and Urban Development.

The minister said that 1,100 of 1,600 kilometers will account for railways and 580 kilometers - highways.

The Iranian minister said that 220 kilometers of highways have been put into operation so far.

Eslami added that in consultation with the Iranian Plan and Budget Organization, the Iranian Ministry of Road and Urban Development’s budget for the next year increased up to 112 trillion rials (about $2.6 billion) from March 21, 2020 through March 21, 2021.
