Some 1.5 million tons of cargo were transported by sea in 2019, which is 1.7 times more than in 2018, Trend reports referring to the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee.
The total amount of cargo transported by sea amounted to $948.2 million in 2019, which is almost 22.2 percent more than in 2018.
The volume of export shipping amounted to almost 336,200 tons in 2019, which is 1.4 times more than in 2018. The total value of exported goods amounted to $155.5 million (an increase of 26.6 percent).
The volume of import cargo transportation by sea for the reporting period amounted to almost 1.2 million tons in 2019, which is 1.7 times more than in 2018. The total value of the imported goods amounted to $708.3 million (an increase of 17.6 percent).
In general, Azerbaijan’s total trade turnover amounted to $33.3 billion, in particular, export - $19.6 billion, import - almost $13.7 billion in 2019.
