The number of registered cars in Kazakhstan amounted to 871,078 vehicles during 2019, which is 12.3 percent more 2018, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.
As of Jan. 1, 2020, total number of passenger cars registered in Kazakhstan amounted to 3.7 million cars.
The committee noted that 84.4 percent of registered cars operate on petrol. Some 12.8 percent of the cars operate on mixed fuel and 2.7 percent - on diesel fuel.
The number of registered car accidents amounted to 16,614 cases in 2019, which is 5 percent more than in 2018, and 24,585 people were injured in these accidents.
As of Jan. 1, 2020, insurance companies made 74,914 payments worth 29.7 billion tenge (approximately $78.9 million) on Compulsory Civil Liability Insurance of Vehicle Owners.
In comparison, 3.8 million cars were registered in Kazakhstan as of Jan. 1, 2019.
Over the course of 2018, 775,500 cars were registered in Kazakhstan, which is 60.9 percent more than in 2017. The number of cars registered in December 2018 was 85 percent more compared to December 2017.
