International airport to start operations in southern Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan’s Turkistan city international airport will be put into operation in Sept. 2020, Trend reports with reference to the press office of Kazakhstan’s prime minister.

This was announced during the working trip of Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Askar Mamin to Turkistan city.

As reported during the visit, the airport will be located 16 km from the regional center and will be commissioned in Sept. 2020. The terminal capacity is expected to be three million passengers per year.

Mamin also visited the construction sites of the Congress Hall, the Schoolchildren’s Palace, office buildings of the Akimat (local administration), a sports complex with a swimming pool and a stadium, as well as other socially important objects.

Mamin also got acquainted with the construction of the Rixos Turkistan and Hampton by Hilton hotels, as well as the multifunctional tourist complex Caravanserai being built by the Turkish Sembol Construction company. All these projects are to be commissioned this year.

Kazakh prime minister announced that a summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States (Turkic Council) will be held in the city in 2020. In his words, that is why timely and high-quality completion of the construction of all necessary facilities is required.
