Kazakhstan sees increase of cargo transportation volumes via railways

The volume of cargo transported via Kazakhstan’s railways amounted to 96.9 million tons in 1Q2020, which is 2.1 percent more compared to the same period of last year (94.8 million tons), Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development.

The volume of cargo transported via railways in Mar. 2020 was 34.3 million tons, which is 4.9 percent more compared to the same month of 2019 (32.7 million tons).

Thus, total volume of cargo transit via Kazakhstan railways was 4.8 million tons in 1Q2020, which is 26 percent more compared to the same period of 2019 (3.8 million tons).

Total volume of cargo transit in Mar. 2020 amounted to 2 million tons, which is 0.8 million tons or 67 percent more than during the same period of 2019 (1.2 million tons).

Total volume of container transportation via Kazakhstan railways amounted to 149,300 TEU in 1Q2020, which is 10,200 TEU or 7 percent more than during the same period of 2019 (139,100 TEU).

Total volume of container transport in Mar. 2020 was 62,200 TEU, which is 17,000 TEU or 38 percent more than during the same month of 2019 (45,200 TEU).

Container transportation on the China-Europe-China route via Kazakhstan was 76,300 YEU, which is 5,300 TEU or 11 percent more than during the same period of last year (68,700 TEU).

The volume of container transit on the China-Europe-China route via Kazakhstan was 32,400 TEU in Mar. 2020, which is 9,000 TEU or 38 percent more than in Mar. 2019 (23,400 TEU).

The number of passengers transported in 1Q2020 was 4.8 million people, which is 8 percent less than in 1Q2019 (5.1 million).
