Cargo turnover via Kazakhstan's transport down

The volume of cargo transported by Kazakhstan’s transport stood at 843.9 million tons in 1Q2020, which is 3.4 percent less than during the same period of last year, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

In turn, cargo turnover was 137.5 billion ton-kilometers, which is 1.4 percent less that during 1Q2019.

Some 5.3 billion passengers were also transported in 1Q2020, which is 2.4 percent less than during the same period of 2019. The passenger turnover was 65.4 billion passenger-kilometers, which is 4.1 percent less than during 1Q2019.

The data also said that the largest share in total cargo transportation in 1Q2020 accounts for road transport, i.e. 80 percent.

In turn, the share of railway transport was 11.5 percent, share of pipeline transport was 8.5 percent, share of other types of transport (air, maritime) was 0.02 percent.

The share of railway transport in total cargo turnover was 51 percent, of road transport was 24.3, of pipelines was 24.6, of other types of transport was 0.13 percent.

The share of railway transport in total passenger turnover was 5.5 percent, of air transport was 4.8 percent.
