Сargo transportation by vehicles slightly up in Azerbaijan

The cargoes worth $66.6 million were transported by vehicles in Azerbaijan from January through April 2020, which is 4.1 percent less per annum, Trend reports referring to the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee’s report.

A big share of the total volume of cargo transportation (58.2 percent) accounted for the vehicles, which reached 38.8 million tons, a decrease of 8.7 percent.

A part of the total cargo turnover (31.3 percent) accounted for the pipelines. The volume of the transported oil decreased by 1.2 percent and amounted to 12.8 million tons. In turn, the volume of the transported gas increased by 13.1 percent and amounted to 11.2 million cubic meters of gas.

Some 3.1 percent (2.03 million tons) accounted for the cargo transportation by ships. The cargo transportation volume decreased by 5.2 percent. At the same time, 34.1 percent of the entire cargo transportation accounted for the oil sector.

Some 7.2 percent (4.8 million tons) of the entire cargo transportation accounted for cargo transportation by trains from January through April 2020, which is by 11.9 percent more compared to the period from January through April 2019.

Only 0.2 percent of the entire cargo transportation in the country accounted for cargo transportation by planes. Some 105,100 tons of cargo were transported by planes from January through April 2020, which is 1.5 times more than in the same period of last year.

Some 78.1 percent of the entire cargo transportation accounted for the private transport sector from January through April 2020, which is 6.3 percent more than in the first four months of 2019.
