Iranian president orders to accelerate railway, road projects

Tehran, Iran, May 26

Trend:

Iran's President Hassan Rouhani stressed the need to accelerate completion and launching operation of semi-finished railway and road-related projects, Trend reports via IRNA.

Rouhani made the remark in a phone conversation with Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mohammad Eslami.

The president also pointed to the need to control the traffic situation on the country's roads and fully comply with health protocols related to COVID-19 pandemic.

Further speaking, Rouhani called the National Housing Action Plan an important step to serve the people, especially the lower classes of society.

The 'National Action Plan for Production and Supply of Housing' aims to construct 400,000 small and medium-size apartments (70-100 square meters in size) across the country and particularly in Tehran, where housing prices have risen the most.

Of the total number of homes, about half will be constructed in Tehran’s suburban “new towns” such as Parand and Pardis, respectively located in the west and east of the city.
