By Nargiz Ismayilova – Trend:

The total volume of cargo transshipment through the Baku International Sea Trade Port CJSC reached 2.5 million tons from January through June 2020, Trend reports referring to the port.

The cargo turnover of Baku International Sea Trade Port increased by 27 percent from January through June 2020 compared to last year's indicators (1.9 million tons).

Baku International Sea Trade Port has successfully completed the first half of 2020. Despite the current situation with the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide, the volume of cargo transportation has greatly increased, the report said.

Transit cargo accounted for 87 percent or 2.2 million tons of the total cargo volume.

As a result of the taken measures, the stable and reliable activity of the Middle Corridor and the Baku port, which is a part of it, during the COVID-19 pandemic was one of the main reasons for increasing the cargo transportation.

Baku International Sea Trade Port closely cooperates with the European Union (EU) in improving the operational efficiency of the port management and risk management. The Baku port, which already has ISO 9001: 2015, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 certificates, implements the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in its business processes and operations.
