1H2020 cargo transportation volume shrinks in Kazakhstan country-wide

A total of 343.3 million tons of cargo were transported in Kazakhstan by all means of transport in June 2020, which is 7.4 percent less than in June 2019, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

In turn, the volume of cargo transported in 1H2020 amounted to 1.7 billion tons, which is 9.5 percent less year-on-year compared to 1.9 billion in 1H2019.

Thus, the majority of the cargo was transported in Kazakhstan’s Karaganda region. The transportation volume in the region amounted to 70.2 million tons in June and 361 million tons in 1H2020, which is 11.2 percent and 16.8 percent more than during the same period last year, respectively.

Karaganda region is followed by East Kazakhstan region with 57.4 million tons of cargo transported in June 2020 (increase of 1.7 percent compared to June 2019). The volume of cargo transported in East Kazakhstan region in 1H2020 amounted to 295.4 million tons, which compared to 302.3 million in 1H2019, indicates a 2.3 percent decrease.

Kostanay region takes third place country-wide by the cargo transported in June 2020 (28.7 million tons, down by 11.5 percent). The volume of cargo transported in Kostanay region in 1H2020 amounted to 142.1 million, which is 12 percent less than in 1H2019 (160.5 million tons).

The least cargo volume was transported in West Kazakhstan region. The transported cargo volume stood at 5.7 million tons in June 2020, which is 9.5 percent less than in June 2019. The volume of cargo transported in 1H2020 was 32.4 million, which is 7.8 percent less year-on-year.
