Trend:

Turkey is expected to reopen air border with Iran on August 15, Head of Iran-Turkey Joint Chamber of Commerce Mehrdad Saadat Dehghan told Trend.

"As agreed, air borders between Iran and Turkey would reopen on August 15," he said adding that borders between the two countries were closed after the coronavirus outbreak, while Bazargan border has been reopened for trade only.

"Trade relations between the two countries are ongoing as normal, and we try to compensate the four months delay that occurred during coronavirus spread. Iranian exporters intend to continue work and there is heavy traffic of cargo trucks via borders," he added.

"During negotiations with Turkey, we suggested extending the working hours at the customs to accelerate trade, as the situation has caused our trucks being stuck in long line at Bazargan border crossing for a week," the official noted.

"The customs office has not released the statistics of Iran and Turkey's trade volume so far, but we hope the current approach would increase trade volume," he said.

"The traffic jam at the border indicates that the four months delay will be compensated," he added.
