Number of flights over Iran's airspace increases

The recent statistics data by Iran Airports Company (IAC) indicate the number of flights through Iran's sky has grown, while Iranian airports scope of work decreased by 45 percent amid the coronavirus spread.

Total of 7,295 flights have passed through Iran's airspace from June 21 to July 21, showing a 35.8-percent increase compared to previous month (May 21-June20); however, the figure shows 71-percent decline compared to same period of the last Iranian year (started March 21, 2019), Trend reports citing Tasnim News Agency.

The number of commercial flights from Iranian airports declined 45 percent, and the post and cargo flights - by 51 percent, said the company.

Imam Khomeini Airport had 15-percent decrease in terms of flight arrival and departure, and 34-percent - in cargo transportation.

At Mashahd Airport, the passenger transportation sharply dropped by 71 percent, and the cargo transshipment - by 78 percent year-on-year.

Commercial flights and cargo transportation at Bandar Abbas Airport has declined by 16 percent, while Shiraz Airport had 46-percent decline of the number of passengers and 57-percent reduction of cargo transshipment.

The number of passenger flights from and to Kish Airport decreased by 24 percent, while the cargo transportation declined by 20 percent.
