Azerbaijan reveals maritime trade operations for seven months

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 14

The volume of export of goods by sea from Azerbaijan dropped by 16.3 percent from January through July 2020, and amounted to 185,287 tons, Trend reports referring to the report of the State Customs Committee (SCC).

According to the SCC, export of Azerbaijani products by sea made up $57.4 million in the reporting period, showing a decrease of 69.6 percent compared to the same period of 2019.

Reportedly, Azerbaijan carried out maritime cargo transportation in the amount of over $315.6 million in the first seven months of this year, which is 68.2 percent less compared to the same period of last year.

Over the mentioned period, the volume of cargo movement by sea amounted to 543,712 tons, having slumped by 59.4 percent year-on-year.

At the same time, imports of goods by sea amounted to 358,425 tons. In monetary terms this figure made up $258.1 million, a decrease of 67.9 percent.

Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover for the specified period amounted to $15 billion, dropping by 37.7 percent over the year.
