Turkey records decrease in cargo transportation via Batman airport

As many as 1,584 tons of cargo were transported through Turkey’s Batman airport from January through July 2020, which is a 45 percent decline in comparison to the same period of 2019, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

“Some 1,562 tons of cargo were handled via domestic flights from January through July 2020, which is 45 percent less compared to the same period of 2019,” the ministry said.

“Meanwhile, 22 tons of cargo were transported through the Batman airport via international flights from January through July 2020, which is nine percent more compared to the same period of 2019,” the ministry said.

According to the ministry, the airport served 176,167 passengers from January through July 2020, which is a 46 percent decrease compared to the same period of last year.

Some 175,200 passengers were served on domestic flights from January through July 2020, which is 46 percent less than in the same period of 2019.

Around 967 passengers were served on international flights from January through July 2020, which is 11 percent more than in the same period of 2019.

The ministry noted that 1,292 flights were carried out at the Batman airport from January through July 2020, which is 39 percent less than in the same period of 2019.

Some 1,284 flights were carried out on domestic flights from January through July 2020, which is 39 percent less than in the same period of 2019.

The number of international flights via Batman airport decreased by 20 percent from January through July 2020, reaching eight compared to the same period of 2019.

The number of flights in Turkey decreased by 50.9 percent and amounted to 431,049 flights from January through July 2020.

From January through July this year, over 42.6 million passengers were served at all Turkish airports.

During the reporting period, more than 1.2 million tons of cargo were transported through all airports of the country.
