Uzbekistan Railways JSC received three new three-section electric 3ES5K "Ermak" locomotives, Trend reports with reference to the company.
The locomotives have been delivered according to the investment project with Russian Transmashholding JSC. In total there are seven electric locomotives of this modification in Uzbekistan now.
Unlike the previous locomotives, all traction systems of 3ES5K "Ermak" freight locomotives have been transferred to electronic control system. The mentioned electric locomotive is designed to transport heavy freight trains.
The new electric locomotives will be in service in the regional railway hubs of Tashkent, Bukhara and Karshi.
On July 2020, Uzbekistan Railways JSC received two of those freight locomotives.
Earlier, as part of another joint project with the Asian Development Bank, in 2018 Uzbekistan purchases two three-section electric 3ES5K "Ermak" locomotives manufactured at Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Plant (Russia).
