Bentonite transshipment figures via Turkey's ports revealed

The volume of bentonite shipment through the ports of Turkey amounted to 294,156 tons in the first seven months of 2020, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

From January through June 2020, 22,511 tons of bentonite were transported by ships flying the Turkish flag, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – 271,645 tons.

No bentonite was handled in transit via the Turkish port over the reporting period, the ministry noted.

In 1H2020, the volume of cargo movement via Turkish ports amounted to 179.6 million tons.

Meanwhile, the volume of cargo transshipment by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 14.3 million tons.

The volume of cargo transshipment through the Turkish ports by ships flying the flags of their countries amounted to 6.9 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – 158.3 million tons.

Over 36.1 million tons of cargo were transported through the ports of Turkey during the first six months of this year.

In June 2020, the volume of cargo transshipment through the ports of Turkey amounted to 28.1 million tons. At the same time, the volume of cargo transshipment by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 2.4 million tons.

The volume of transshipment of goods through the ports of Turkey by ships flying their countries’ flags exceeded 1 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – to 24.6 million tons.

During the reporting month, 5.4 million tons of cargo were transported in transit through the ports of Turkey.
