As many as 17,249 tons of cargo were transported through Turkey’s Adana Airport from January through August 2020, declining by 45 percent compared to the same period of 2019, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told Trend.

According to the ministry, in the reporting period, the country’s domestic flights transported 13,442 tons of cargo, showing a 41-percent drop over the year.

At the same time, 3,807 tons of cargo were transported through Adana Airport by international flights, having plunged by 56 percent year-on-year, the ministry said.

The Adana Airport served over 1.6 million passengers during the eight months of this year, which is 50 percent less than in the same period of last year.

More than 1.4 million passengers were served on domestic flights over the reporting period, while a year earlier this indicator was 48 percent more.

In the past eight months of 2020, 186,284 passengers were served on international flights, down 64 percent compared to the same months of last year.

Meanwhile, 17,039 flights were carried out through Adana Airport, which is 37 percent less than in the same period of 2019.

From January through August 2020, 15,211 flights were carried out on domestic flights, which is 33 percent less than in the same period of last year.

International flights via Adana Airport dropped by 37 percent over the year, amounting to 1,828 flights.

From January through August 2020, air traffic in Turkey decreased by 48.9 percent and amounted to 532,458 flights. Meanwhile, over 52.2 million passengers were served at all Turkish airports.

During the reporting period, more than 1.4 million tons of cargo were transported through all airports in the country.
