Volume of cargo loaded and unloaded via Iran's Arak railway increases

As many as 456,000 tons of cargo were loaded via railways of the Arak County in Markazi Province during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 20-September 21, 2020), Director General of the Arak County Railway Department Mohammad Reza Ghorbani told IRNA, Trend reports.

Ghorbani emphasized this is an increase of 10 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

“During the reporting period, 167,000 tons of cargo were unloaded via the Arak railways, which is an increase of 132 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year,” the he added.

The director general noted 350,000 ton-kilometers of cargo were transported in the direction of the Arak railways. This figure shows an increase of 14 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Ghorbani said at the same time, 523,000 ton-kilometers of cargo were transported inside of the Arak railways over 6 months of current Iranian year, and this is an increase of 18 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

“In addition, the Arak County Railway Department has transported 61,800 people to various parts of Iran within the past six months of current Iranian year. This is a decrease of 82 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year,” he stressed.

The Arak County Railway Department controls the Qom, Markazi, Lorestan, Hamadan and Kermanshah railway lines, and the length of the 21-stations railway line is 441 kilometers.
