Azerbaijani railway operator admitted to consortium of Trans-Caspian Transport Route

Tariff conditions for the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route have been approved, Trend reports citing the Kazakhstan Railways (NC KTZ) JSC.

According to the company, on October 21-22 in Istanbul, with the participation of the heads of interested railway administrations, working group meeting on the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) was held.

The event participants were informed on the activities of the public entity International Association TITR on the implementation of the transportation plan for the route in the past nine months of 2020, according to which the volume of container traffic along the TITR route, taking into account the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the dynamics of cargo transportation for the reporting period amounted to about 15,000 TEU.

Moreover, during the meeting, as a result of discussions, the Azerbaijani operator of carriages, ADY Express LLC, was unanimously admitted to the consortium of the Trans-Caspian Transport Route, coordinated by KTZ Express JSC.

"There were also discussed the timing of the passage of container trains, single and group shipments in the East-West direction, as well as the issues of amendments to the Agreement on the organization of container traffic in direct international rail and water communication with the participation of feeder ships between the ports of the Caspian Sea (Aktau, Baku (Alat)) dated June 25, 2019," said the company.

"We see a high interest of the TITR participants in working on joint projects and will continue to streamline the unified technology of the transportation process, simplify administrative procedures, create a competitive environment and ensure maximum efficiency of the route to attract transit and foreign trade cargo," noted the Deputy Chairman of the Board for Logistics of the JSC Pavel Sokolov.

As a result of the meeting, the participants approved tariff conditions on the TITR route for the transportation of enriched coal, coke nut, sulfur, liquefied gas, grain, oilseeds, legumes and other nomenclature of goods.
