Iran to increase cyber defense umbrella on its ports

TEHRAN, Iran, Oct.28

Trend:

Iran has a vast and cohesive plan to improve the cyber defense umbrella for ports infrastructures, said the Head of Iran's Civil Defense Organization.

"We should improve the controlling system for ports' safety layer to reduce the possible cyber attacks," said Brigadier General Gholamreza Jalali, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.

"In the current economic climate, ports have an important role and they are susceptible to smart technology that damages them. It is necessary to have infrastructure that would respond to threats immediately and could alarm about the threats, although this system is not only for ports and can be used in all industries," he added.

According to Jalali, security and defense should be localized in the infrastructures of the country's ports. Furthermore, a widespread plan is on the agenda to improve the cyber defense umbrella that is expected to be immediately executed by the cooperation of the Ports and Maritime Organization.
