Decrease in cargo turnover recorded in seaports of Georgia

In January 2021, a 12.5 percent decrease in cargo turnover was recorded in the seaports of Georgia, Trend reports citing the Georgian Ministry of Economy.

In January, seaports and terminals handled 1.4 million tons of cargo, which is 0.2 million tons less than in January 2020.

In January, the port of Batumi handled 300,000 tons of cargo.

The cargo turnover of the port of Poti in January 2021 amounted to 0.6 million tons, which is 200,000 tons less than in 2020.

The cargo turnover of the Kulevi terminal increased from 0.1 million tons to 0.2 million tons.

Cargo turnover at the Supsa terminal amounted to 0.4 million tons.

Container traffic is also decreasing. In January 2021, the ports received 20,809 container units.

In January, 29,064 containers were sent to the port of Batumi, and 6,533 containers were sent to the port of Poti, which indicates a decrease in container traffic in this port by 2.1 times per year.
