Cargo transportation from Iran’s Markazi Province increases

The volume of cargo transportation from the Markazi Province (central Iran) has increased by 14 percent since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of the Roads and Transport Department of the Markazi Province, Ali Zandifar told IRNA, Trend reports.

Zandifar emphasized that so far, 19.4 million tons of goods have been transported from the Markazi Province to various regions of Iran. This figure was 16.9 million tons in the same period last Iranian year.

Zandifar added that among the 12 counties of the province, the most of goods were transported from Arak, Saveh, Delijan, and Zarandieh counties to the Tehran, Khuzestan, Isfahan, and Qom provinces of Iran.

The director-general noted that according to the statistics, 1.6 million tons of goods a month have been transported from the Markazi Province to various regions of Iran over the past four years.

“On average, more than 7 million tons of goods a year are transported to the Markazi Province from other regions of Iran,” he said.

Reportedly, there are 6,400 kilometers of various roads in the Markazi Province of Iran. Its 4,000 kilometers are rural roads.
