Iran to create joint transport companies with other countries - Minister

Iran has put on its agenda the creation of conditions for Iranian trains to travel to third countries with the creation of joint transport companies with other countries, the Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mohammad Eslami said, Trend reports citing the ministry.

The minister emphasized that in this regard, certain contracts have been signed with a number of countries. Thus, a major turning point will be created in the Iranian railway sector.

Eslami added that the transformation of the Iranian railway into an international railway is of great importance for Iran. Iran has become a member of the International Union of Railways (UIC) and the CIS Railway Transport Council for this purpose.

“Iran is currently working on the construction of a railway line for electric trains traveling at a speed of 300 km/h. It is hoped that the work in this regard will be completed in the current Iranian year (from March 21, 2021, through March 20, 2022),” he said
