Volume of goods transported from Iran’s Imam Khomeini port grows

The volume of essential products transported from the Imam Khomeini port in the Khuzestan Province (southwestern Iran) increased by 7.2 percent from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021) to April 2, compared to the same period last Iranian year, said Gholamabbas Bahraminia, director general of Khuzestan Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization, Trend reports citing Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran.

The director general stressed that about 246,000 tons of essential products were transported from the Imam Khomeini port to other regions of Iran during the reporting period.

“The transported goods were mainly wheat, barley, corn, oilseeds, agricultural and livestock product,” he added.

According to Bahraminia, the products in this volume were transported by 9,910 trucks, and the number of trucks increased by 5.9 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

He noted that all health protocols of the Committee to Combat Coronavirus are being implemented in the Imam Khomeini port.

Reportedly, the Imam Khomeini port of Iran is located on 11,000 hectares of land. The port has the potential to receive 54.5 million tons of goods a year. The port has 522,000 square meters of covered and 2.1 million square meters of uncovered warehouses.
